$1 million a year in rental income or $1 million a year in business profit?

Both sound like the same answer. They are not even close to the same question.

Business profit is active. You have to show up for it. Rental income is passive. It shows up for you. The real question is what are you actually trying to build. If the goal is an exit, business profit builds the valuation. If the goal is a lifestyle where money works without you, rental income wins every time.
