Searching for remote F1 jobs and finding suspicious listings? Most are fake. These four categories are real, and here's how to tell the difference.
1. F1 media: sites like GiveMeSport hire freelance F1 writers to work from anywhere, around four articles a week. Social media, content, and video editing roles run remote too.
2. Software and data: teams and F1 itself hire developers and data analysts, with plenty of remote and hybrid arrangements. (Team-side roles skew hybrid or on-site; F1 the company, suppliers, and agencies are where fully-remote concentrates.)
3. Freelance simulation: F1 moved its CFD aero simulations to the cloud, so a CFD engineer can sell that work from anywhere. The Audi F1 engineer I interviewed runs his own consultancy doing exactly this.
4. Beyond the 11 teams: F1 media sites, sponsors, agencies, and tech suppliers all hire remote, and all of it counts as working in F1.
The honesty test: race engineers, mechanics, and wind-tunnel aero must be there in person. A "remote race engineer" listing is miscategorised or bait. Real remote F1 work is work done on a screen.
