I am using automotive AI to replace a BMW shifter in a custom Land Cruiser build. See how this makes complex swaps easier.

This project involves a 40 series Land Cruiser sitting on an 80 series chassis, powered by an E70 X5 engine and transmission. Getting the electronics to communicate properly is often the hardest part of a restomod, but I am exploring how modern tools can simplify the process of integrating factory components into a non-factory environment.

We are looking at CAN Bus messaging to bridge the gap between systems. By utilizing an ESP32 for the interface, we are performing reverse engineering on the signal data to get the shifter functioning seamlessly. It is a massive shift in how accessible these advanced vehicle modifications have become compared to just six months ago.

I have also just learnt I could have used Martins Claude skill in Codex to speed the whole process up.
