What Happened to TripleLite After Shark Tank.
Nancy and Ronnie Pritchett entered Shark Tank seeking $400,000 for 10% of their company, TripleLite. But the idea behind the business started with a simple and dangerous moment. One night, Ronnie was walking down the steps in his backyard using a regular flashlight. The beam only lit up a small area, forcing him to move the light side to side just to see clearly. Suddenly, he nearly fell. That close call made him realize traditional flashlights had a major flaw.
Determined to fix the problem, Ronnie created the TripleLite flashlight, designed with three powerful LED lights that produce a wide 180-degree beam. Instead of lighting only a narrow spot, the flashlight covers a much larger area, making it safer and easier to use. Nancy and Ronnie invested their own money into building the business, spending years developing the product, testing designs, and securing patents worldwide.
The flashlight cost about $6.50 to manufacture, sold to retailers for $15, and reached customers at $29.95, giving the company strong profit margins. On Shark Tank, the product impressed the Sharks and sparked a bidding war. In the end, the couple accepted a deal from Mark Cuban and Lori Greiner for $400,000 in exchange for 25% of the company.
After the episode aired, TripleLite experienced rapid growth. Sales increased quickly, the brand expanded into major retail stores and online marketplaces, and the company introduced new products like rechargeable flashlights, headlamps, and keychain lights. Today, TripleLite has grown far beyond a single invention into a successful and expanding business.
