Two columns of 2026 quarterback earnings sit side by side on this board and the college side wins almost every row. Fernando Mendoza tops the professional list at 10.4 million dollars as the number one overall pick, and he is the only NFL rookie quarterback on the graphic who out-earns the top college quarterback. Darian Mensah is at 6.5 million to play at Miami after his transfer from Duke, a figure that would rank second among drafted rookie quarterbacks this year. Dante Moore and Trinidad Chambliss are both at 5 million, Sam Leavitt at 4.5 and Josh Hoover at 4. Against that, the NFL column reads Ty Simpson at 4.6 million, Carson Beck at 1.3, Drew Allar at 1.2 and Cade Klubnik at 1.1. Four of the five highest-paid rookie quarterbacks in professional football earn less than the starting quarterback at Miami. The draft used to be the payday and now it is a step backward for everybody who is not taken first overall.

The figures come from reported 2026 NIL valuations and rookie contract values compiled by AP. Which of these college numbers is the hardest to justify, and does this change the math on when a quarterback should declare for the draft at all? Should Klubnik have stayed another year? Drop your take and your biggest disagreement in the comments. Let's see who thinks the draft is still worth it.
