Joe is finally home… but for less than 24 hours! And when you're living the homestead life in Northern Canada, there's no such thing as taking it easy.
After spending so much time away from home hauling cattle, every minute back with the family counts. There's a mountain of work to get done, and it's GO TIME!
We're bouncing from one job to the next, trying to squeeze as much as possible into a short window at home. From taking care of the homestead animals and getting in a last-minute garden harvest to working on our log sauna, there's no shortage of work waiting for us.
This video might feel a little chaotic, but that's REAL homestead life. We're rushing, switching jobs, and doing whatever needs to be done before Joe has to climb back into the cattle truck and head out again.
This is the side of homesteading people don't always see. It's not always peaceful mornings, woodstove cooking, and beautiful garden harvests. Sometimes it's exhausting days, long stretches apart, endless chores, and trying to build a life for your family in the little time you have together.
We wouldn't trade this life for anything, but that doesn't mean it's easy!
